Fall 2008 | Housing – UNStudio
Analysis and representation were the main goals during this case study. The VilLA NM, designed by UNStudio, was located in the Catskill region of New York prior to being burned down in Febuary of 2008. This single-family home was designed for continuity – with bifurcated surfaces and a blur between public and private spaces. This is achieved through its form, innovative in the merging of twisted surfaces, single-curved surfaces, and planar surfaces. The large glass panels capture expansive views of the surrounding woods, while reflecting the context back to the exterior.
